What is Buggy?
by Annie Zheng, Buggy Chair 2007
There is the head mechanic that manages the mechanics, the head driver that manages the drivers, the push captain that manages the pushers, and the buggy chair that…well what is it that I do? I make sure there aren’t any rumbling matches between the three Heads. Is that what I really do?Am I Steve Wilkos, the previous head of security from Jerry Springer? Sorry to disappoint you, but I am not. I am Annie Zheng. I let the team know if and when rolls take place, where we go for team dinners, what our team meetings are going to be about, and how to score the occasional muffin at rolls.
So we don’t have rumbling matches, why should you join buggy? What is it all about?
Buggy is about being committed to the mechanics that drag their butts out of bed at 5 am in the morning and shut themselves away in the basement of New House to the whee hours of the night. Buggy is about being committed to the drivers that trust you to send them down a hill at 30 mph to practice driving their line day in and day out for a chance at glory. Buggy is about being committed to the pushers that have to Iron Man buggies despite all instinctual tendencies to give anything less than their best. Buggy is about commitment to the occasional muffin at rolls.
No worries, there usually isn’t just one muffin. We typically go out to breakfast after rolls.
